Here in the Baltic's though, spa treatments have already been on offer in one form or another since the c19th. During the early 1800's wounded Russian officers used Riga's neighbouring beach resort, known as Jurmala, to convalesce. Jurmala developed as a resort and during the Soviet occupation it became renowned throughout the whole of the union for its sanatoriums.
From the 1950s people travelled to Latvia from all over the Soviet Union to help cure their ills. Today, many of the treatments on offer are perhaps a bit more exotic than they were twenty or thirty years ago, but the fact remains that Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania have a spa pedigree that other countries simply cannot compete with.
Indeed the quality of spa treatments on offer in the Baltic's even prompted a group of French and Belgian industry journalists and experts to declare recently that they consider Latvia to be the top spa destination in Europe.
Not only do spa and wellness treatments relieve stress and help improve your general state of mind and health, but they are also tremendously good fun. The range of spa treatments that we can offer you are almost as varied as your imagination can dream up. From curative mud baths to steaming with birch branches; from detoxifying body wraps to simply lying back and relaxing in a bubbling Jacuzzi heated at a perfect 39 degrees, we have spa treatments on offer to suit every individual's moods and tastes.
